Contracted by the Environmental Management Agency (EMA), as the national implementing entity of the GEF 7 project in Zimbabwe’s three provinces (Manicaland, Masvingo and Midlands), we conducted a stakeholder mapping and analysis exercise involving the assessment of the current and desired scenarios of their engagement levels, spanning from the national down to the village level, in the sustainable management of land and forest resources (SLM and SFM).
The initiative thoroughly examined the dynamic relationships between various stakeholders, delineating their roles within the process. Additionally, it involved mapping out existing or desired coordination committees/mechanisms. The assessment also gauged the current and desired levels of participation among identified stakeholders, identifying any constraints or barriers that may hinder inclusive participation. The team from C4IERD gathered stakeholder views and insights through district and ward-level focus group discussions in Bikita, Buhera and Chivi, and two provincial validation meetings in Masvingo and Mutare.
